STEP Scholarship Program

Skilled Trades Empowerment Program awards scholarships throughout the school year to students who live in New Jersey and are looking to pursue a post-secondary education in the skilled trades. Scholarship recipients will be awarded $2,000 that can be applied towards their future educational training in their chosen trade.

Scholarship Requirements

Letter of Recommendation or Reference. Submit a letter of recommendation or a reference contact from a teacher, mentor, or employer who can attest to your character, abilities, and potential.
Submit an essay or video that introduces yourself, explains why you are applying for the scholarship, highlights your goals, aspirations, and how the scholarship aligns with your interest in pursuing a career in the skilled trades.
Essays should be submitted via the form found on www.stepnj.org.

Students interested in applying for a STEP Scholarship must currently live in the State of New Jersey

The Skilled Trades Empowerment Program awards scholarships monthly throughout the academic school year. Our scholarships are open to students who live and attend school in New Jersey and are looking to pursue a post-secondary education in the skilled trades. Chosen scholarship recipients will be awarded $2,000 to help offset tuition, equipment purchases for apprenticeship or other education related needs required to begin a career in the skilled trades.

Deadline for submitting applications for our monthly scholarship is the 3rd Friday of each month. Students who are chosen as STEP Scholarship recipients will receive notification and next steps via email on or before the last Friday of the month.
